Helena Ascough

Helena Ascough inspires to create thought-provoking, inclusive and imaginative work through her lived experience of disability, community-led practice and love of storytelling.

After leaving Blackpool & The Fylde College with three Distinction* grades in BTEC Performing Arts, Helena has built up an extensive performance and acting CV, working for companies such as Merlin Entertainments, The Touring Consortium Theatre Company, Events Live, and Initiate Theatre.

She has performed her solo spoken word shows at The Lancashire Fringe Festival and Frontline Festival, The Harris Museum, Lancaster arts, the Brewtime Collective, Together2012! and her theatre piece ‘What A Clown!’ was commissioned by Contact Manchester.

Helena graduated in 2020 with a first-class degree in Theatre and Performance from The University of Central Lancashire. In 2021 she graduated with a PGCE in Drama.

Currently, Helena works as a visually impaired freelance actor, poet and facilitator.

Helena is an avid gig-goer and a lover of heavy metal and rock! When she’s not at a gig, you will find her with her head in a book.
